Insights for Hr Managers – How to Support Remote Employees?
In the wake of a new and deadly outbreak, we are all stranded at homes. The life isn’t normal, the roads are empty and the offices are deserted. To safeguard the employees, many companies had started work from home. Work from home brought a lot of new challenges for the managers. The country is in lockdown, but the companies need to survive somehow. Most of the professionals are working from home and the managers need to place the best HR management practices that will support the remote employees.
First things first, your remote employees should have the right tools and technologies to work from home. If they need to be connected with the office cloud system, you should have room for the same. You should create such online systems where your employee can stay connected with other colleagues and the office desktop at great ease. The technologies, office supplies, software, and any other stuff that they might need, it is the duty of the manager to provide them with the same.
We all are in a state of havoc and stress. We do not know what be there tomorrow. Employees are worried if their jobs are going to be there or they will be laid off. Amidst this stress and tension, the least the managers can do is to console the employees and boost their morale. Try and connect to your employees on a personal level. It is not possible to talk to each one of them every day, but you can at least talk to one or two teams in a day. This gesture will be appreciated by everyone and they will show more productivity and enthusiasm towards work.
Encourage all your employees during difficult times. Let your employees know that you care for them and let them know that the company will stand for them always. Make them believe that the company is doing its best to safeguard the employees’ interests and that they do not need to worry about their jobs. You should understand how your employees are feeling. They are stranded at homes, feeding their children, doing the dishes and whatnot. This is not normal and they haven’t been doing this earlier. If the company doesn’t support them in such circumstances, they will never be able to trust the company when life will be back to normal.
We understand that you might have a lot of questions about current HR management. A few companies are even wondering if HR has a role to play in such situations. What they do not realize is that HR stays at the fore of any company. It does work in the backend, but without a robust HR management, it is difficult to withstand the market storms.
